Camp Life!

So, I haven’t been getting my Tumbl on lately because I’m here…

(more pictures coming soon, via my summer blog residency over at Eastern Mountain Sports — check for a post from me every Friday, starting this week)

For the past 8 years or so, I’ve had the strongest desire to drop everything and become a summer camp counselor. This year, I decided it was time to make it happen. About two months ago, I found out about a literacy camp for girls near the Catskill Mountains through a friend, checked out their open positions and took a shot at applying for the Assistant Camp Director position. Literally three hours after turning down a Director position for a tech camp at Emory University in Georgia, I got a call to interview for this position, connected REALLY well with the Director and got offered the job.

(And obviously, I took it - God’s timing is impeccable.)

I’ve been up at camp since early June setting up and we’re wrapping up the final few days of staff training before the campers come up next Tuesday. It’s been an amazing (and super busy) experience thus far. Our staff is great (and HILARIOUS) and more importantly, the chemistry is on point. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with and learn from this team and I’m looking forward to sharing the journey with you guys. Here’s to the start of a great summer!

I hope you’re all well.
